Happy Read Comics in Public Day! I can’t think of a better way of celebrating
what would have been Jack Kirby’s 95th birthday then reading some of
his fine books in public with pride.
Today is the third annual read comics in public day and I am proud to
say that my son, my daughter and I have been a part of it all three years!
In 2010 Brian Heater and Sarah Morean from The Daily Cross
Hatch created Read Comics in Public Day in an effort to increase the number of
people reading comics and to help promote comics in general. The idea is as simple as it sounds. Don’t be ashamed that you read comics,
celebrate and share your love for such a phenomenal medium. If you want to inform others or have a nifty
poster to hang up in your house you can download it here: https://docs.google.com/open?id=0BzwHWbvP_trAUEFHVXFGWEhzVm8
After you have finished reading in public, documented said
reading with a photo, be sure to upload your photo to http://www.flickr.com/groups/readcomicsinpublic/pool/,
and celebrate the fact that you were part of something great. You can learn more about the day at http://www.facebook.com/readcomicsinpublic. Share the comic book love!
