I have entered the Third Gate

My task has been laid in front of me. All I have to do in order to win a Delorean is be
the first gunter to set a world record for the fasted completion of Pac Man or a high
score on Robotron: 2084, Joust, Black Tiger, or Tempest.

If that doesn’t sound hard enough on its own, the world record must be set on the original coin-op arcade hardware. The attempt must conform to the Twin Galaxies (www.twingalaxies.com) taping guidelines. I can’t download an emulator or fire up my friend’s Atari. I need to quest in small town Indiana for an arcade that holds one of these classic games.

My hope is I can find a Black Tiger cabinet as Twin Galaxies considers that record the easiest to defeat. I have a few locations in town that I hope to check out when I am finished working for the day. Not holding my breath on this one, but I think if I can track down a machine in town I will have a shot. I will at least give it a valiant effort.

My immediate task is to locate one of those machines close enough to home, download the emulator to practice, practice, practice, and then hopefully contact a Twin Galaxies referee and make sure that everything is in order for my world record attempt.

It is not too late to clear the first two gates and join in on the fun. The third gate will remain open until one lucky gunter has cleared all three gates. If you haven’t
located the first gate, pick up your copy of Ready Player One by Ernest Cline and get
cracking! Good luck to any fellow gunters that are attempting this difficult task.
